Research Director - Specialist Market Intelligence Consultancy

Job description

CD68486

Research Director - Specialist Market Intelligence Consultancy

c. £140,000 plus benefits (including equity); London/Hybrid

Wonderful opportunity for a hugely experienced Research Director from the market intelligence field to lead an international research team and develop research output for this growing consultancy covering a niche business vertical!

Joining the leadership team of this developing scale-up that's headquartered in London, and with four international offices overall, your remit will be to take charge of the group's key market intelligence output/offering across its platform/products, alongside looking at additional project management & consulting opportunities. As such you'll cover research strategy; team management, development and training; operations & budgeting, thought leadership & industry engagement; quality assurance; data integrity; and more besides. Essentially it’s your challenge to make their market information the 'go to' for the sector they serve!

Previous knowledge of that sector isn't essential given its so specific (it can be discussed further after CV submission to us). What is key however is your experience as a Research Director or equivalent is from the market intelligence sector already - ideally from a market intelligence/information provider, consultancy or similar (please note this probably won't suit those research directors either mainly with in-house/client side experience or full service consumer market research agencies etc). Particular intelligence verticals you may know well, and which may be advantageous in taking on this role, include real estate, construction, telecoms/technology or digital infrastructure experience. It goes without saying you'll also have strong communication skills, alongside demonstrable leadership and customer-centric research strategy experience.

This is, frankly, a dead sexy opening in an otherwise quiet senior job market; you get to be part of scale-up where you’ll put your own mark on what comes next - hence it could also suit those research directors from known market intelligence groups who perhaps feel constrained within their current set-up, or those who have always thrived in a more scale-up, agile environment re the agencies/consultancies they’ve been part of; being 'hands on' and flexible is key to this because to some extent the research infrastructure is for you to help build (so you must be prepared for that).

Most important of all, you'll like everyone here - we're sure of it! They may cover a niche market but they’re a super, cooperative, welcoming and lively team; there‘s hybrid working (ideally three days in the London office), opportunity to travel and the reward of equity as part of the package, given the contribution they hope you'll make to their growth and reputation.
